Laboratory Technical Specialist

We are looking to appoint 3 technicians to be part of the research division of the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre. Reporting to the Institute Technical Manager team, the roles will display an in-depth knowledge of technical or scientific practices, methods and procedures gained through either experience and/or formal qualification and will deploy this knowledge to provide a range of technical support activities.

Post 1 and 2: These projects form part of ongoing research into developing drugs to treat complement-mediated diseases and are undertaken in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies. You will carry out production of recombinant proteins and undertake functional analysis using an array of bespoke complement assays. You should have demonstrable experience of immunological techniques i.e. tissue culture (cell lines such as CHO and hybridomas), ELISA and western blotting. Experience with protein purification using AKTA, SPR/BIAcore and complement assays is also desirable.

Post 3: Supporting research programmes in two research groups which include projects in complement biology, kidney transplantation and immunology. You should have experience of a range of laboratory techniques, including tissue, Immunostaining and western blotting. Experience of working with and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students is desirable.
